Woodbridge Model Boat Club has evolved over more than 40 years since foundation in1982.
The Club can offer members, facilities to sail model boats of all kinds, be it sailing classes or power boats of all kinds, extending to steam power and submarines. Local bye Laws prohibit internal combustion craft.
Our weekly calendar shows activity across all our disciplines.
Club members are affiliated through the club to either the Model Power Boat Association or the Model Yachting Association.
The Club is affiliated to the Deben Water Sports Centre (DWSC) which gives us access to shelter and indoor facilities for meetings and Coffee and Biscuits after Club events.
Sessions take place during most mornings from 10.00am to noon.
- Mondays: Power Boats including scale and fast electric.
- Tuesdays: Racing Yachts. See programme for dates and classes.
- Wednesdays: General Club Meeting, bring and sail what you like. Preferably no fast Electrics on Club Days. Free sailing yachts and novelty models are welcome at these meetings.
- Saturdays: Racing Yachts. (See programme).
- Sundays: Monthly Yawls Racing. (See programme).
- On the 4th Monday of each month (except in summer months): the Power Section runs a Builders Forum in the DWSC from 10.00 am to noon. A different member guides each meeting, where building methods, model advancements and developments are reviewed.
Whatever your interest you will find help is available to get you sailing with us. We welcome visitors from other clubs and tourists.
Stay and have a coffee and biscuits with us after the meetings.
