The boats we sail
We are one of the few clubs in the UK with an active fleet of R36r class radio controlled model yachts. These boats are ideally suited for our needs, with a short keel and can carry a large sail rig needed for our sheltered and shallow pond.
We hold a series of races on Saturday morning during the Summer and Winter starting at 10 am.
Members of the club meet for an informal session on Wednesday mornings at the pond.
In addition to the R36r we sail small boats on the pond. Examples are Micro Magic, Fiesta, Tactic, Minimum, Clarke 24, Dragon Force etc.
A warm welcome is extended to all model boaters, whether scale power, sail or electric propulsion. A small radio controlled boat can be available to visitors. However the pond is unsuitable for fast electric boats. (I.C. engined boats are not allowed by S.C.D.C.)
Members are happy to advise newcomers to radio sailing with regard to sources of boats and construction.
In the Winter, talks and sometimes workshops on interesting maritime topics are arranged, usually held at Woodbridge Football Club.
During the year the club organises a fitting out supper, a club meal and a BBQ in the Summer.
The club is also involved with the Woodbridge Regatta.
